PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Epping to Thorniegh Third Track Alliance (ETTT Alliance) commissioned T3D Design to work with the community, bridging the gap between the community and the upgrade of the Epping to Thornleigh Third Track. Through a series of 9 drawing workshops held at Arden Primary School, Beecroft Bookshop and the Beecroft Community Centre. We invited 300 children to discover the native flora and fauna of their local area by drawing a collection of illustrations to be used within the artwork.
‘Our Place’ is loosely based on the theme ‘a day in the life of Beecroft’s native wildlife’, the narrative unites the six panels into a single cohesive design. The colours of the panels contribute toward an underlying narrative that is present throughout the artwork representing different times of the day adding colour to the garden beds and the entrance to the station platform.
The story begins and ends with the Powerful Owl, which is on the endangered species list. The artwork reflects the bustling activities that occur in the natural world throughout the course of a day. Each panel represents a certain time such as sunrise, morning, mid morning, dusk, evening and twilight. We have designed the backgrounds for each panel to give the drawings a contextual space capturing the vitality, energy and diversity of the local wildlife through the eyes of it’s local children.
